Welcome to The Gallery!

In the collection of the Maritime Museum, San Diego. (Find this image on Gallery 1.)

Here you'll be able to see and explore a
variety of Gerry's photo expressions. Gerry
is very prolific and if you visit often, you'll
notice that there are new images posted regularly.

A typical reaction to seeing Gerry's work is, "What are these, are they paintings, or are they photographs?" They break the barrier
and division between painting and photography.

Gerry explains how he creates a new image:

"I always start with a photo, either film or digital, and work on an image until I can 'feel' where it has the possibility to go.

"This phase is very exciting for me and the most instinctively creative part of what I do. All I can say is that once I work on an image for a time its potential reveals itself to me and I suddenly know exactly what to do with it. At that point I have a clear vision of what the finished piece will look like.

"The next step can go in any one of a wide variety of directions. Literally hundreds of creative decisions are made about an image before I consider the piece finished. I might work on it with watercolor, pastel, or colored pencil.

"As a last step, the image is printed on premium quality archival paper. The print, if not exposed to pollutants or extended direct sunlight, should give continued pleasure for decades.

"As you can tell, it's labor intensive and each image takes hours and hours of very demanding work. But I have to admit, I love it!"
